Transportation in Shanghai Travel

Airports

 

Two airports are used for passenger delivery in Shanghai, respectively Shanghai Pudong International Airport in the east of the city and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport in the west of the city.

 

Shanghai Pudong International Airport

 

Shanghai Pudong International Airport located in Pudong District consists of two terminals. Pudong Airport operates most of the international flights. Shuttle buses running between T1 and T2 are operated from 6:00 to 24:00.

 

Distance to city center: 30 km

Airport bus

Airport buses running between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai city center are operated each day. There are 8 airport bus routines, respectively Hongqiao Airport, Luxun Park, Shanghai Railway Station, Yinhe Hotel, Anhua Road, Shanghai South Railway Station, and Nanhui Coach Station. The last shuttle bus from airport to city center departs 45 minutes later than the arrival of the last flight, so don’t worry if your flight arrives late.

 

Taxi

It takes about 45 minutes and 120 Yuan from downtown Shanghai to Pudong Airport by taxi, from Pudong Airport to Lujiazui and the Bund Area normally needs 150 Yuan at daytime and 185 Yuan at night.

 

Shanghai Maglev Train

 

Opening time

Pudong Airport Station – Longyang Road: 7:02-21:42,

Longyang Road – Pudong Airport Station: 6:45-21:40.

Interval: 15- 20 minutes.

Price: 50 Yuan for one way and 80 Yuan for round way.

VIP seat: 100 Yuan for one way and 160 Yuan for round way

Subway Line 2 and Line 7 could take you to Longyang Road

 

Subway

Passengers could take Subway Line 2, Guanglanlu Station to transfer to trains to Pudong Airport Station.

Opening time: 6:00-22:00

Interval: 8 minutes.

 

Shanghai Hongqiao Airport

 

Hongqiao Airport is located in Minxing District and consists of two terminals. Shuttle buses running between T1 and T2 are operated from 6:00 to 22:30.

      

        Distance to Shanghai city center: 13 km.

Airport bus

There is only 1 airport bus routine, from Hongqiao Airport to Pudong International Airport.

 

Taxi

It costs about 50 Yuan at daytime and 60 Yuan at night from Hongqiao Airport to Renmin Square, 65 Yuan at daytime and 85 Yuan at night to Lujiazui, and 60 Yuan at daytime and 70 Yuan at night to Expo Garden.

 

Subway

Take Subway Line 2 or Line 10 and get off at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Station.

 

Railway Stations

There are 4 railway stations of Shanghai in total, respectively Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai West Railway Station, Shanghai South Railway Station, and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.

 

Shanghai Railway Station

 

Shanghai Railway station is called Xinkezhan by locals. It is a part of Beijing – Shanghai high speed rail. There are two squares, north square and south square, connected by an underpass.

Location: 100, Moling Road, Zhabei District

Transportation:

Distance to city center: 5.1km

By taxi: It costs about 30 Yuan from city center to Shanghai Railway Station.

By subway: Take subway Line 1, 3, or 4 and get off at Shanghai Railway Station.

 

Shanghai West Railway Station

 

Shanghai West Railway Station is located 5 km west to Shanghai Railway Station. It is a part of Huning Intercity high speed rail.

Location: 22, Taopu Road, Putuo District

Transportation:

Distance to city center: 10.5 km

By taxi: It costs about 50 Yuan from city center to Shanghai West Railway Station

By subway: Take Line 11 and get off at Shanghai West Railway Station.

 

Shanghai South Railway Station

 

Regular trains runnig from Shanghai and cities in Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta mainly depart from Shanghai South Railway Station.

Location: 289, Humin Road, Xuhui District

Transportation:

Distance to city center: 13.3 km

By taxi: It costs about 55 Yuan from city center to Shanghai West Railway Station

Subway: Line 4, Shanghai South Railway Station

 

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

 

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station located close to Shanghai Hongqiao airport is an important part of Hongqiao transportation complex. Bullet train starting with D and G mainly departs from Hongqiao Railway Station.

Location: Shengui Road, Hongqiao transportation hub, Minxing District 

Transportation:

Distance to city center: 20.6 km

By taxi: It costs about 80 Yuan from the Bund to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

Subway: Take subway Line 2 and Line 10, and get off at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station
