The art exhibition now on shown at the National Museum of China pays tribute to Zhang Shuqi, who cared about his motherland and people until the last moment of his life, and who contributed greatly to the Sino-US cultural exchanges. Paintings on shown are donated by Zhang’s family in the US to three Chinese museums.

Zhang Shuqi was highly regarded for his flower-and-bird genre of classical Chinese paintings in the early 20th century. He spent years in the 1940s and ’50s exhibiting and speaking on Chinese art in North America, before passing away in the United States in 1957.

It is the hoped that through a systematic review of Mr. Zhang Shuqi’s unique artistic life and outstanding artistic achievements, the exhibition will demonstrate the life pursuit and the feelings of a famous artist.

People can experience the cultural traditions and contemporary life of the older generation of artists. It will help to promote the Chinese spirits more consciously, and make new and greater contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream.
